Exceptional design begins long before furniture is selected or construction starts. It begins with understanding what you value in a home and identifying the opportunities that others may overlook.
When we begin a project, we spend time learning about your routines, preferences, frustrations, and goals. We want to know which spaces get used most, where the home falls short, and what success looks like for you. This early discovery phase allows us to develop a design strategy that responds directly to your needs rather than relying on assumptions.
Once we’ve gathered that information, we begin translating ideas into visuals. Using detailed 3D renderings, we create realistic views of your future space so you can evaluate layouts, materials, cabinetry, furnishings, lighting, and architectural details before work begins.
We remain actively involved as the process moves forward, coordinating with builders, contractors, and vendors, reviewing selections, and solving challenges as they arise.
Founded by lead designer Jonathan Gordon in 2014, Design by the Jonathans is known for thoughtful design, technical expertise, and highly personal spaces. Its honors include HGTV’s 2024 Designer of the Year, a HOBI Award, a 2024 Qualified Remodeler Master Design Award, and Best of Connecticut recognition in 2025.
We begin with conversations about your home, your goals, and how you want the space to function. From there, we develop concepts, renderings, and detailed plans before moving into implementation and project coordination.
Many clients don’t have a name for their style, and that’s perfectly fine. Through discussions, inspiration images, and feedback, we identify patterns and preferences that help shape the design direction.
We work on full-home renovations, kitchen and bath projects, furnishing plans, and new construction homes. We typically work with clients looking for a comprehensive design approach.
From the very first meeting, they took the time to understand our vision and aesthetic, translating our ideas into a stunning reality.
